Thinking Big is no longer the Answer

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There is a reason Mark Zuckerberg is a billionaire and Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra are not. Big ideas do not get you anywhere, big actions do.

Solutions without actions are just suggestions

How do you turn thinking into actions?

  • Everything starts with a thought, but it is not the answer, it is only the first step
  • What you want to impact, depends on what you give focus to and prioritize.
  • Thinking big requires you tho think small at the same time, but do not confuse the two as they have very different purposes.
    • You need the big picture, but you also need the details.
    • It is easy to get lost in the weeds and forget to look up at the sky
  • You don’t have to think big first, but it helps to know where you want to go, and then work backwards.
  • Details and small steps are what creates actions and will help you transition from thinking big to doing big.
  • You can’t boil the ocean, but you can boil a lot of eggs in the same pot.
    • Group ideas and projects into the same buckets.
  • Having a big idea and a vision is key, but that only make for good small talk and brainstorming sessions
    • Know your limitations. If you do not have the skill to take actions, build a team that does.
  • Start. If it is in your power to start taking action, do it. If you do not have the authority to take action, there are are a few things that may be happening:
    • Problem: You have a bad idea and no one wants to take the journey with you
      • Solution: come up with a new idea
    • Problem: You have a good idea but no one sees the value
      • Solution: Know your audience. Everyone interrupts value differently. Find what motivates your team, investors, clients, end users.
    • Problem: You are thinking too big, and it scares people that don’t think big too
      • Solution: Find new friends or teammates. If you want to be a millionaire, hang out with millionaires.
    • Problem:  You have a vision, you are thinking big, you have a plan, but you do not have the right team to execute.
      • Solution: Discover teams strengths and weaknesses, if the passion is there, everything else can usually be figured out as you go.

Don’t get me wrong, thinking big is a great thing, but, if all you are doing is thinking and not acting on those thoughts, eventually, others will pass you up and you will be saying, “that was my idea.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
